Assistant Manager I

Job Overview We’re seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development at Family Dollar in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Responsibilities Assist with day‑to‑day store functions and activities. Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns. Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor, maintaining seasonal areas. Perform opening and closing procedures as needed. Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications related to store activities. Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays. Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts). Maintain store areas—sales floor and stockroom—in accordance with company standards. Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash. Adhere to all policies and procedures, including safety guidelines, and ensure all associates follow company policies. Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop store associates. Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with professional and friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders. Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, including bathrooms, floors, and trash areas, and restock supplies as needed. Ensure compliance with local licensing requirements for sale of alcohol and tobacco, providing required background information. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred; required ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives (e.g., merchandise schematics). Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred. Ability to lift up to 55 lbs, frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting. Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills. Ability to work in a high‑energy, team environment. Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills. Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
