Managing Attorney - Immigration

Work Location Anaheim, CA Term Full-time, occasional evening and weekends required Position Status Exempt Pay Range $101,000 - $126,000/annual, commensurate with skills and experience. Reports to Immigrants' Rights Senior Managing Attorney Generous Benefits 100% employer‑paid medical and dental insurance for employees & dependents 401(k) plan with an employer match 12 vacation days 10 sick days 12 holidays Hybrid work schedule with three days in office and two days remote work About the Role The Immigrants' Rights Managing Attorney reports directly to the Immigration Rights' Managing Attorney and is responsible for maintaining a full caseload and assisting with grant obligations and supervising training staff as needed. Responsibilities Manage a full caseload of removal defense and asylum cases. Oversee and delegate work of assigned staff and volunteers, providing training and guidance. Provide full‑scope representation before DHS, DOS, EOIR and federal courts. Prepare immigration applications and petitions for agencies. Research and analyze legal sources to prepare memos, training materials, advisories, motions, and appeals. Train staff in immigration law and application procedures. Manage relationships with partners, donors, grantors, and elected officials. Assist development with grant writing and oversee grant deliverable reports. Support strategic external messaging on immigration policy and reform. Create and supervise outreach and educational strategies. Assist the Immigrants' Rights Center’s participation on campaigns, projects, and publications. Monitor and improve service issues and client expectations. Update and maintain department manual and improve office procedures. Supervise and monitor client referrals to third‑party legal and social service providers. Participate in coalitions advocating for immigrants' rights. Perform other office duties, including day‑to‑day operational tasks and fundraising events. Qualifications Law degree from an ABA‑accredited school. Licensed to practice law in any state, preferably California. 5+ years of experience in immigration rights and legal services. 3+ years of experience in removal defense cases. 3+ years of experience in affirmative relief (asylum, TPS, family petitions, U‑visa, SIJS, VAWA, T‑visa, adjustment of status, naturalization). 3+ years of supervising, mentoring, or training attorneys and staff. Fluency in Arabic, Farsi/Dari, Pashto, or Urdu preferred. Experience with nonprofit organizations and the Muslim community preferred. Strong time‑management skills and ability to meet deadlines. Problem‑solving skills with attention to detail. Productive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. Excellent oral and written communication, including public speaking. Experience with diverse cultural and socio‑economic backgrounds. Reliable transportation for client travel. Maintain discretion and client confidentiality. Self‑motivation and creativity. Commitment to CAIR’s mission. Experience in case management software. Basic computer proficiency, including MS Office. Knowledge of SharePoint, Office365, OneDrive, Westlaw, LexisNexis and social media.
