Faculty - School of Medical Imaging and Therapeutics - DMS General Clinical Coordinator

The School of Medical Imaging and Therapeutics(SMIT)seeks a full-time faculty member to deliver high quality learning experiences and education for students in the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - General.The faculty member willengage in teaching, service and scholarship activities, andworks collaboratively with colleagues across the University as well as with the Dean of SMIT and the Program Director of the DMS General program. Additionally, the incumbent provides mentorship to students and contributes to the visibility, impact and reputation of the University and its programs through research and scholarly engagement. The selected candidate will have responsibilities teaching classroom, lab, online and clinical courses toUndergraduate students.Subject matters may includeExtended Abdominal, MSK, OB/GYN, Breast, Small parts and board review. Rank and salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Assists with the development and assessment of the clinical education components of the curriculum. Prepares clinical course materials and daily lesson plans. Supervises students in clinical applications. Routinely reviews each student’s clinical performance to ensure adequate progress toward attainment of all required clinical competencies. Assists in defining criteria and establishing procedures and related materials for clinical competencies. Coordinates logistics for clinical site implementation with the Program Director. Assists in developing guidelines to ensure a smooth interface between the program and clinical sites. Ensures continued effectiveness of clinical education sites. Procures new clinical sites. Ensures clinical education program compliance. Reviews student success rates by class. Works collaboratively with other faculty and staff to achieve high student success rate. Teach at least one or two class per semester or as determined by the University. Deliver didactic, laboratory and/or experiential instruction via multiple formats (in-person, online, or in a ‘blended’ format) in theDiagnostic Medical Sonography General Program. Provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the School, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria. Provide engaging assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered. Participate in service activities; serve on committees; serve on regional, state, or national organization committees and volunteer activities; represent the program and University in/at community functions; attend School and institutional activities such as Commencement and ceremonies; and support student activities such as health fairs and service projects. Participate in scholarship resulting in conference presentations, publishable manuscripts, peer-reviewed instructional materials, or other outcomes consistent with expectations for scholarly activities described in the Faculty Manual. Use the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students. Advise and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms. Provide service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment. Attend and participate in monthly School and Department meetings, University ceremonies, and other major events, and serves as a member of University, School and/or Department committees, as assigned. Contribute to periodic reviews and revisions of departmental course offerings. Maintain advanced knowledge in discipline and areas of expertise. Build and maintain relationships with professional organizations involved with the healthcare sector. Assist in the development of community contacts, externship site set-up, and community involvement, student service learning and Interprofessional Assist with the coordination of Advisory Board meetings at least once per Maintain the continuity and relevance of the program curriculum Assist the dean, program director and faculty with the maintenance of continued accreditation and annual reporting Responsible for the development and delivery of on-line DMS education. Managing special projects including, but not limited to open houses, programmatic and institutional accreditation preparation, and campus events Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor. Required: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred ARDMS or ARRT certification in OB/GYN and extended abdominal required, others preferred Minimum of5years of work experience inradiology general sonography and OB/GYN Minimum of5 yearsof clinical/teaching experience at the college/university level preferred but not essential Experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques Commitment to undergraduate, graduate and/or professional education and student success Excellent organizational and communication skills Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents, including healthcare industry professionals) Record of scholarly activities commensurate with an academic appointment Evidence of teaching experience preferred Physical Requirements: Typical office or administrative working conditions. Faculty is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Work is primarily sedentary in nature; there are no special physical Work requires sitting, standing and walking as part of classroom and lab instruction. Must be able to use technology, such as typing and manipulating a mouse/mouse pad Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
