9 Month Faculty of Surgical Technology

Salary Range The salary range for this position is $54,386 to $117,180 per year; the actual starting salary will commensurate with education and experience. Position Type & Schedule Full‑time 9‑month faculty position. Monday‑Friday with varied hours based on student needs. Job Summary Laurel Ridge Community College seeks an engaged, creative instructor with a primary focus on teaching any of the Surgical Technology classes. Faculty will assist with curriculum and program development, advising, recruiting, and service on college committees. Teaching may include day, evening, weekend, on‑ and off‑campus, in‑person, hybrid, and web delivery. Faculty members will use state‑of‑the‑art teaching technologies and may be required to teach at any campus as needed. Responsibilities Teach Surgical Technology courses with a typical load of 15 credit hours per semester and 10 student‑engagement hours per week. Collaborate with full‑time and part‑time instructors to ensure teaching uniformity and continuity of material and expectations. Assist with curriculum and program development for new and existing programs. Carry out advising, recruiting, and committee service duties. Use classroom teaching technologies and, where appropriate, deliver instruction in a hybrid or online format. Support the goals of the college and the Virginia Community College System and comply with its policies and procedures. Qualifications Certification as a Surgical Technologist recognized by the National Board of Surgical Technology. Minimum associate’s degree in Surgical Technology or related field. Minimum two years of clinical experience as a surgical technologist. Demonstrated teaching ability or related experience. Basic Life Support certification. Ability to meet mandatory clinical facility requirements (training, background checks, drug testing, vaccinations, etc.). Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in a related field. Prior higher‑education teaching experience. Experience with Canvas or other comparable learning management systems. Experience with simulation models and scenarios in a surgical technology program. Demonstrated ability to teach using technology in the classroom and/or online course delivery. Required Travel Travel to sites, campuses, and training as required for the position and to cover assignments throughout the college service region.
