The Project Engineer is responsible for providing technical engineering and project control support on our heavy civil and transportation construction projects. This role works closely with the Project Manager and Construction Manager to implement policies and procedures required for project success. The Project Engineer is expected to maintain a good knowledge of the contract specifications, documents, and the scope of work, including subcontracts and purchase orders and to assist in the development of project status reports and profit projections. This is a full-time onsite position based out of the field office.ResponsibilitiesWorks closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foreman and Crews on Project Deliverables.Process/manage material deliveries – ensure that materials received are properly inspected for quantity and quality and are in compliance with contract documents.Manage and negotiate subcontractor and material contracts.Assist in developing and updating the project schedule.Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.Maintain a complete and current record of submittals, approvals and resubmittals, including a file of letters of transmittal and dates of each transaction.High level of involvement in the operations of our cost control system and analysis of construction costs.Participate in monthly forecasting revenue and cost accruals.Accumulate all necessary data and prepare monthly pay estimates.Process and estimate change orders and requests for information as directed by the Project Manager.Follows OHLA North America policies and procedures, including safety policies.This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive exhaustive list and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities at any time.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications3+ years of experience in construction storm water compliance, preferably on heavy civil, pipeline, grading, or public works projects.Knowledge of California Construction General Permit requirements and BMP implementation.Experience with SMARTS reporting and storm water documentation.Ability to read construction plans and specifications.Strong communication and documentation skills.Valid California driver license.Preferred QualificationsExperience on public works or heavy civil construction projects.QSD certification preferred but not required.Experience with dewatering compliance and water discharge permits preferred.Not Required but a PLUS:PE licenseAdvanced engineering degreesAdditional Benefits offered by OHLA USA:Medical, Dental, & Vision InsuranceShort- and Long-Term Disability & Life Insurance401(k) retirement plan with employer matchingTuition Reimbursement after 1 year of employmentPersonal Time Off Program (PTO)Engaging work environmentAnd much more!!Compensation: The annual rate being offered for this position is USD $90,000.00 per hour to USD $115,000.00 per year. Please note that the salary range listed is specific to the role listed in California.
