American Traveler is hiring an experienced PCU RN with 2+ years of telemetry experience and LTAC background for a 13-week travel assignment.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting with a 1:5 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:45 AM-7:15 PM)
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
• Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed per unit
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Daily census of approximately 30 patients across 30 rooms
• Cares for a wide variety of intermediate level patients including stroke, heart failure, SI, ETOH withdrawal, respiratory failure, pneumonia, GIB, syncope, TIA, falls, renal failure, and post-surgical patients needing higher level monitoring
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license, Kansas and Missouri or compact license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent in-specialty RN experience required, with no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
• LTAC experience required
• Previous travel RN experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code teams required
• Experience with central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management required
• Experience with blood product administration and IV therapy required
• Experience with feeding tube care and management required
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure required
• Experience with heparin protocols and cardiac drip management (no titration) required
• Experience with CVA and pre/post neurosurgery care required
• Experience with high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, nasal cannula, and oxygen face masks required
• Experience with isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac required
• Experience with surgical drain management required
• Experience in MS/Tele, telemetry, and cardiac telemetry settings required
• Preferred experience in ER holding, neuro stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown settings
• Preferred experience with port accessing, vasoactive drip management, and PCA
• Preferred experience with traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, and total joint replacements
• Preferred experience with chest tubes, CPAP/BIPAP, and tracheostomy management
• Social Security number required at time of consideration
• Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse intermediate-level patient population including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and renal cases
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Maximum RTO of 7 days, with any additional RTO requiring approval prior to submission
• No new RTO requests permitted after submission or post-offer
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former BJC or Saint Luke's permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have at least 18 months tenure with a 3-month break in service
• No travel partners accepted for this position
