Medical Assistant Job Summary: The Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a dedicated, hard-working, and self-motivated MRI Tech Assistant who is enthusiastic about advancing both clinical care and imaging-based research. As part of the WIMR Imaging Medical Services team, this individual will play a key role in translating innovative imaging science into high-quality patient care while supporting UW Radiology's mission of discovery, education, and excellence in clinical service. In this role, the MRI Tech Assistant will support both clinical and research imaging operations , assisting with daily MRI and PET/MRI examinations for standard-of-care clinical needs as well as research studies. Responsibilities also include managing data associated with imaging-based research projects and educating, training, and supervising researchers on MRI and PET/MRI scanner operations and imaging techniques. Additional duties include preparing daily billing invoices for research imaging, supporting ACR accreditation activities, and fostering a collaborative environment that ensures efficient, safe, and high-quality imaging for clinical teams, investigators, and study participants. Compensation: The starting salary for the position is $24.00 per hour; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

- This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
- Typical work hours for this position are between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., with 8-hour shifts scheduled Monday through Friday. However, start and end times may be adjusted slightly earlier or later to meet departmental needs and ensure appropriate coverage for both clinical and research imaging workflows. Final scheduling details will be determined at the time of hire.
- This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every two years.
- Successful candidates will address the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities in their cover letter; A basic knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer skills; Strong organizational and prioritization skills with great attention to detail and accuracy; Service-oriented mindset with a focus on patient-centered care; Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with patients and healthcare teams; Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
- Collects, prepares, and delivers specimens for laboratory analysis
- Prepares and cleans examination rooms, instruments, and equipment for specific procedures
- Escorts patients to various hospital locations and delivers, orders, and inventories general clinic supplies
- Performs administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, assisting patients with billing, and coding information and answering basic medical questions
- Performs routine vital signs, basic tests, assists with minor procedures, and administers medications as directed by a supervising clinician
- Patient communication: Educate patients about scheduled procedures, and follow-up instructions. Screen patients for potential safety concerns. Provide excellent customer service and maintain compassionate professional patient care.

- BLS/CPR certification within 3 months of start date required.
