Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of recent ICU experience required License: License to practice as an RN required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Two years of recent ICU experience - Compliance with fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited - Ability to pass an exam during the orientation Description: The position is for an RN in an ICU setting. Candidates must have two years of recent ICU experience. Interviews will be conducted with unit leaders. A driver's license is required to verify distance compliance. Fingernail policy prohibits artificial nails in all patient care departments. Refusal to comply will lead to termination of the contract. RN’s must take an open book exam on skills learned during orientation. A score of 90% or above is required to pass, or termination will occur. The RN will be responsible for managing patients with complex diagnoses including respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, and others. The nurse-patient ratio is 1:1-2 in the ICU. RNs will be required to titrate drips for vasopressors, paralytics, and other medications. Charge nurses are present on each shift and will also attend rapid response teams and codes. Support staff such as nurse aids and patient care techs are available on the unit. RNs will not need to read monitors as there are centralized telemetry monitoring systems in place. Shifts are scheduled with input from management based on unit needs. Weekend and holiday work is required as per unit needs. RNs may float to all inpatient units, excluding specific areas. A navy blue scrub color is mandated for attire. Two shifts of unit-specific orientation will be provided. The unit is fast-paced and requires critical thinking skills and a positive attitude. A collaborative environment is fostered with attendings and student providers. Candidates should be prepared to submit any request for time off upfront. The cancellation policy allows for a set number of shifts to be canceled by the hospital. The charting system used is EPIC.
