We are seeking a CAD Designer / Drafter to support a service engineering design team in an onsite engineering environment. This role focuses on creating, revising, and managing detailed drawings, models, parts, and assemblies using Creo while ensuring compliance with established engineering and documentation standards.

The position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage design activities while supporting engineering documentation, configuration management, and change control processes through Windchill.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise, and maintain detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for parts, assemblies, and packaging solutions using Creo.

• Develop electromechanical and PCB packaging designs, including sheet-metal enclosures and related structures.

• Ensure design outputs comply with engineering, safety, quality, and documentation standards.

• Manage engineering documentation and configurations within Windchill, including version control, release processes, and document status tracking.

• Interpret engineering specifications, tolerances, and technical standards to produce accurate and manufacturable designs.

• Prepare, update, and maintain technical drawings and documentation supporting engineering change activities.

• Support engineering change management processes through creation, revision, and organization of drawings and models.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to clarify requirements and resolve technical issues.

• Manage multiple design assignments while maintaining quality, accuracy, and schedule commitments.

• Communicate project status through established documentation and reporting systems.

• Apply safe design practices that support reliable operation of electronic and electromechanical systems.

• Evaluate and refine designs based on engineering feedback, testing results, and operational requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience creating engineering drawings, models, assemblies, and technical documentation.

• Strong proficiency utilizing Creo for CAD modeling, drafting, and design activities.

• Experience managing engineering documentation and configurations within Windchill or similar PLM systems.

• Ability to interpret engineering specifications, tolerances, manufacturing requirements, and technical standards.

• Experience supporting engineering change processes and controlled documentation environments.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within technical teams.

• Availability to work onsite in Bloomfield, Connecticut.

• High school diploma, technical training, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Design, or related technical discipline.

• Experience supporting service engineering, industrial equipment, manufacturing, or regulated environments.

• Experience with electromechanical and PCB packaging design.

• Experience designing sheet-metal enclosures and related structures.

• Familiarity with engineering change management, compliance requirements, and configuration management practices.

• Strong computer proficiency and organizational skills.

• Experience collaborating within cross-functional engineering teams.

• Demonstrated commitment to engineering quality, documentation control, and safe design practices.

• Experience supporting complex electromechanical or electronics-related products.

Work Environment

This position operates within an onsite engineering and service support environment and involves close collaboration with engineering leadership and technical teams.

The role includes extensive use of Creo for modeling and drafting and Windchill for documentation control, configuration management, and engineering change processes. The environment emphasizes engineering quality, documentation accuracy, safety, and adherence to structured design and documentation standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Bloomfield, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
