Someone who works under the direct supervision of a San Francisco Unified School District administrator to support the supervision and instruction of students in various settings, including the classroom and community. The ideal candidate will assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of Individualized Behavior Plans (BIPs) for students with behavioral needs and attend student progress meetings. You will also assist students with and demonstrate proper physical care and hygiene. This position requires adequate physical strength and mobility to implement de-escalation strategies, emergency interventions, and physical restraints when necessary to ensure safety, including lifting and moving students in distress. Additionally, some positions may require the employee to provide a certificate of clearance from the Department of Motor Vehicles for insurability purposes. The ideal candidate will also commit to completing the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification with the Behavior Analysis Certification Board within the first 90 calendar days of employment, and complete American Red Cross Standard First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training within 90 workdays if not already certified. Furthermore, candidates should be committed to participating in and successfully completing all components of district-approved verbal and physical de-escalation training. Demonstrated knowledge of interventions for working with students with behavioral needs. • Ability to follow appropriate safety precaution guidelines and procedures and make judgment calls during a crisis, across all school settings and activities.
• Identifies behavior concerns and develops behavior assessment plans
• Provided consultation regarding the Shoestrings program to teachers
• Assist instructional staff and clinicians with identifying and addressing issues to positively impact the student
• Develop and implement effective communication strategies and behavior support techniques related to the student's behavioral and emotional concerns
• Provide direct social and emotional supports
• Collaborated with multiple trans-disciplinary teams, Family Liaison Coordinator, EED PBIS team, EED Instructional Coaches, EED Family Support Specialists, Coordinated Care Teams and families in the development of treatment services
• Completed individual treatment care plans, concurrent reviews, and other clinical documentation to maintain clinical records in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Ability to perform related duties such as filing and correctly storing student documentation as required by FERPA/HIPPA.
• Conducts student-centered case consultation and provides crisis intervention as needed
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and clinical case conferences
• Maintains a high degree of student confidentiality
• Maintains a high degree of professionalism in the clinical school setting

Candidates will demonstrate a solid understanding of effective interventions for students with behavioral needs and possess the ability to interpret and implement Behavior Plans, teaching or lesson plans, and other written instructional guidelines. They must be capable of exercising sound judgment during crises and adhering to appropriate safety protocols across all school settings and activities. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to interact with students, staff, and families using tact, patience, firmness, compassion, courtesy, and consistency. Candidates should be proficient in the use and operation of tablets, computers, and standard office equipment, as well as in collecting, monitoring, and analyzing data using available tools. A strong commitment to confidentiality and compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and organizational policies is required. The ability to accurately file and manage student documentation and to work effectively within the guidelines established by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board's code of ethics is critical. Candidates must be able to take specific directions, execute assigned tasks, and provide meaningful feedback on outcomes. The role also demands the ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations and to build respectful, productive relationships in the culturally diverse environment of the San Francisco Unified School District. Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field.
• Minimum of (3) years of experience in the field of Human Services working with families
• Experience with direct clinical or other mental health services to children and adolescents
• Ability to present complex information on behaviors, behavioral assessment, and implementation of behavior plans
• Familiarity with San Francisco and the San Francisco public school system
• Excellent verbal communication skills and/or presentation skills both one-on-one or in front of a group
• Experienced in providing direct clinical services to children and adolescents with mental health needs. This experience may include supervised internships, practicums, and field experience in social work, psychology, sociology, and counseling. - Assist with direct observation of students and supporting staff on implementation of student behavior plans and related goals
- Given guidelines and parameters provided, collect, record and summarize data on observable student behavior.
- Regular implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and other evidence-based interventions.
- Work with student individually and in groups at various locations, assisting with specific instructional and behavior goals.
- When specifically advised, interact with parents, community agencies, educators, and service providers.
- Attend team meetings to provide on-going feedback related to student behavior
- Intervene in emergency situations involving behaviors that have potential to cause harm to self or others.
- Participate in ongoing related training as required and provided by the school district
- Assist classroom teacher in reinforcing classroom and school-wide expectations to help promote a positive learning environment and make progress on student goals.
- Render first aid in compliance with modern precautionary methods.
- Report student and staff injury to the proper site administrator and supervisor.
- Perform all related duties as assigned.

- High School Diploma/equivalent and

- An Associate of Arts Degree or higher, OR
- 48 college units, OR
- Passing of CBEST/CODESP examination
- A letter of interest
- Minimum two years working in an educational environment or 1:1 setting working with students on the Autism spectrum and/or who have significant behavioral needs, i.e. direct student care or as an instructional aide working in a public school, nonpublic school or nonpublic agency setting
- Certified in Child CPR and First Aid
- Experience in completing clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory
- requirements
- Knowledge of appropriate psychosocial and classroom strategies and implementation techniques for students with behavioral and social challenges
- Knowledge of mental health diagnosis, completing initial diagnostic/ behavioral health assessments, crisis intervention, and developing client-specific treatment plans
- Experience working with students to foster the development of improved coping, problem-solving, and communication skills along with any goals directly related to the child's individualized service plan
- Knowledgeable and skillful in developing individualized treatment plans. Effective professional verbal and written skills for communicating client progress, and treatment needs to clients, families, professionals, and employees of the agency
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work activities.
- Able to effectively present information to educators, families, and community-based organizations.
