Surgical First Assistant Float PRN

Hourly Wage Estimate: $55.68 - $83.53 / hour Job Summary and Qualifications The Surgical Certified First Assistant (CFA) is a specially trained individual who participates in and actively assists the surgeon in completing operations safely and expeditiously by providing exposure, maintaining hemostasis, and other technical functions. The CFA is experienced in all aspects of aseptic technique, equipment and sterile supply setup, case preparation, and post‑procedure clean‑up. He/she is knowledgeable regarding instrumentation, equipment and supply needs for all types of surgical procedures and performs delegated duties consistent with scope of practice. Responsibilities Assist the surgeon in the performance of surgery, including tissue handling, wound retraction/exposure, positioning, and suturing as directed. Maintain aseptic technique, set up required equipment and sterile supplies, pull cases as needed, and break down cases after procedures. Cover multiple complex specialties including Robotics, Complex GI, Colorectal, Liver, Thoracic, and all types of Surgical Oncology. Precept and coordinate resources; be available for call across facilities as requested. Perform additional duties such as scrub technician or multi‑skill tech as assigned. Position Requirements Licensure/Certification/Registration : Registration as a Surgical Assistant by Colorado Division of Registration (DORA) and current certification as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) or equivalent from NBSTSA, NSAA, or American Board of Surgical Assistants. Current BLS Certification. Education : Graduation from a CAAHEP‑approved school of surgical technology and completion of a First Assistant Program accredited through ARC/STSA. Experience : Minimum two years as a Surgery Technician. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities : Advanced scrub knowledge, proficiency in multiple service lines, leadership qualities, judgment and problem solving, organizational skills, professional communication, medication handling authority, proficiency with Meditech and Microsoft Office, adult learning principles.
