Field Service Technician-Amazon DTW3- Romulus, MI

Position Summary The Field Service Technician will support our fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks, including performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns. This person will service fuel cells at a specific location, report breakdown events, order parts, and maintain fuel cells. The role requires excellent technical skills, strong communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills due to frequent customer interaction. Core Duties and Responsibilities Perform maintenance and service of fuel cells at customer sites. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and evaluate fleet conditions to maintain the fleet at a specific location. Execute specialized service procedures, including field retrofits and software and hardware upgrades to existing fuel cells. Provide emergency support service to customers as required. Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for customer service and support as needed. Maintain high‑pressure hydrogen storage, delivery, and fueling systems as required. Communicate with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers regarding aftermarket support of fuel cells. Provide regular feedback to regional service representatives on fuel cell performance and field maintenance issues. Complete administrative duties and documentation, including incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance, and site and system documentation. Follow and enforce safety procedures in the field or customer sites. Travel as required for business needs; expected to drive safely and adhere to all traffic laws. Represent Plug Power professionally at all times in all interactions. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework. Three (3) or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. Formal training and education may be considered in lieu of direct experience. Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis unassisted. Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred. General mechanical aptitude is required. Computer and software skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook). Dynamic interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse audiences. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Technician must bring their own standard set of tools – specific fuel cell tools provided by Plug Power. Requirements Technical and Practical Requirements (Step 1) Complete all onboarding and customer site training (outlined on LMS). Create work orders, order parts, and properly close‑out work orders (OJT). Use email, text alerts, expense system, service portal, and other required systems (OJT).Use a multimeter (OJT). Send accurate daily BOD and EOD reports (OJT). Escalate to tech support and management when needed (OJT). Clear alarms for H2 pad and dispenser (OJT). Use tools and follow standard procedures (swage, clamps, crimps, hardware) (OJT). Perform H2 pad and dispenser inspections (OJT). Check floating and isolated grounds (OJT). Attend and participate in FS Technical Training Program. Replace a stack on various GenDrive models (OJT). Perform LOTO. Receive and ship batteries and parts (OJT). Remove and replace fueling nozzle (OJT). Hook up and use HPTT (OJT). Replace wearable components (e.g., valves) on H2 systems (OJT). Reset H2 gas compressor (OJT). Lock cascade valves (OJT). Demonstrate task‑oriented follow‑through. Apply 5S standards. Communicate effectively to RSR and RSM levels. Be willing to respond to off‑shift needs. Adhere to safety standards and field service processes. Pay Rate Hourly pay: $24.50 - $25.50. Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. These factors are considered when making an offer of employment.
