Records Specialist

Job TitleJob DescriptionComplies with the policies and procedures of Ellisville State School with no incidences of breech, recorded or reported during the appraisal period; ensures record privacy; designs and implements a system to assure clients files are safe, secure and stored appropriately; maintains a system for retrieval of individuals health information and data; records stored in the licensed programs are reviewed as scheduled by the Director; records are reviewed to assure quality and consistency; assistance is provided to approved professionals staff and approved agencies in order to retrieve information authorized for release; assigns file numbers to incoming persons served; other duties as assigned.What You'll Need to Be SuccessfulEfficient organizational and time management skills. Ability to handle an often-unpredictable work environment.Preferred QualificationsTypically requires 4-6 years of relevant experience with 2-4 years of medical records experience. Appointing authority may require certification in any one of the following: Registered Health Information Management Administrator (RHIA); Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT);Certified Coding Associate (CCA); Certified Coding Specialist (CCS); Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based (CCS-P); Certified Professional Coder (CPC); Certified Professional Coder-Hospital Outpatient (CPC-H); or Certified Professional Coder-Payer (CPC-P).
