Key Responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Our client is seeking to hire for a Project Manager, who will lead and manage multiple substations, transmission line, and telecommunications projects from planning and design through construction and closeout.
\n
• Responsibilities include overseeing project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and resources; coordinating cross-functional teams and client stakeholders; and ensuring projects meet required in-service dates.
\n
• The role also involves managing capital project portfolios, developing long-term investment plans, reviewing cost estimates, and coordinating construction sequencing and outages to ensure efficient project execution.
\n
• Project Management:
\n
• Lead a cross-functional team to execute substation, transmission line, and telecommunication projects from inception through design and construction to closeout.
\n
• Oversee 5-20 projects concurrently of varying sizes ($100k-$50M+) and voltages (4kV-765kV).
\n
• Manage projects for schedule adherence, identifying risks and requirements to successfully achieve a project’s in-service date.
\n
• Navigate projects through client gate approval processes, including presentations to senior and executive management as required by each client.
\n
• Manage projects for financial adherence, maintaining an accurate cost forecast reflecting committed and uncommitted costs for an estimate-at-completion.
\n
• Coordinate craft labor resources with client-approved vendors for construction, testing, and other field activities.
\n
• Provide regular status updates on projects by maintaining project data and routine reporting as well as meeting updates for clients.
\n
• Lead project meetings with cost, schedule, real estate, environmental, construction, public engagement, and engineering resources to facilitate project execution.
\n
• Portfolio Management:
\n
• Develop a multi-year capital expenditure plan to support the client’s replacement and betterment of electric transmission and distribution assets.
\n
• Regular interface and coordination with project sponsor organizations to determine details of proposed plans and business justification.
\n
• Ensure synergies across projects are incorporated into the portfolio of work to prevent scope from being duplicated or performed inefficiently.
\n
• Monitor composition of client’s capital investment allocation to align with stated subsidiary investment targets for optimal rate of return.
\n
• Engage with project sponsors to evaluate need-by date for realistic schedules and budgets.
\n
• Assist with creation and compilation of rate filing support for federal and state filings.
\n
• Review tabletop engineering estimates for accuracy and scope.
\n
• Review project change requests (scope, In-service date, etc.) and reconcile with the existing and long-range portfolio of work.
\n
• Interface with client’s accounting group to establish financial setup for projects.
\n
• Create analyses & reports to assist the client in tracking, coordination, and execution of projects.
\n
• Build baseline scopes, schedules, and budgets to be released to multiple client’s stakeholders.
\n
• Outage/Construction Sequencing:
\n
• Responsible for developing substation and transmission project construction lifecycles, with a focus on outage efficiency and constructability.
\n
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting specified deliverable dates and expectations.
\n
• Analyze scoping and project documents to determine boundaries of required construction within the substation and within electric grid.
\n
• Conduct site walkdowns and project calls with the project team as necessary to establish an achievable construction sequence with attainable outages.
\n
• Analyze needed outages against adjacent outages scheduled in the area.
\n
• Create initial outage sequence to communicate proposed construction lifecycle to project team.
\n
• Coordinate with drafting resources to create engineering-caliber drawings that document the evolution of a project from present conditions to final state, and all needed incremental steps.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

\n

\n

\n
• Must have a minimum 5+ years of experience either in direct utility or consulting side managing Transmission lines or Power Distribution, and Substation or Similar Grid Infrastructure Type of projects.
\n
• Candidate should have experience in project management phases, construction support, leadership experience, managing client relations, portfolio & program support.
\n
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management or related degree from accredited program and min 5+ years of experience in utility transmission projects (either T-Line or substation) or other related industries is required.
\n
• 5+ years of experience in utility transmission projects (either T-Line or substation) or other related industries.
\n
• Preferred: relevant T&D (gas or electrical) engineering that are open to pivoting as a program PM for a utility client.
\n
• Familiarity or proficiency in ProjectWise, SharePoint, SAP, and cost/schedule management, preferred.
\n
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
\n
• PE or PMP certification preferred.
\n
