Unit Details The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit is a 10‑bed unit for patients with serious heart conditions for which medical care and intervention are needed. Our patient population includes life‑threatening arrhythmias, cardiogenic shock, acute myocardial infarctions, congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, post‑cardiac arrest situations, intra‑aortic balloon pumps, left ventricular assist devices, angioplasty with stent, ablation therapy, and Impella heart pumps. The healthcare providers in this unit have advanced training in cardiac and intensive care. Our Cardiac Intensive Care Nurses work with cutting‑edge technology, a nationally renowned physician team, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the medical center. We embrace a passion for a dynamic and intense environment that requires critical thinking and leadership. Nurses possess excellent analytical and assessment skills, a strong background knowledge of hemodynamics, arrhythmia management, pathophysiology, and pharmacology. Key Responsibilities Provide advanced cardiac and intensive care to patients with life‑threatening cardiac conditions. Manage arrhythmias, cardiogenic shock, acute myocardial infarctions, and other critical cardiac events. Administer and monitor intra‑aortic balloon pumps, left ventricular assist devices, angioplasty procedures, ablation therapy, and Impella heart pumps. Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care. Use cutting‑edge technology and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of cardiac protocols and guidelines. BLS Provider (accredited by the American Heart Association) required prior to hire. Illinois Board of Nursing license prior to hire. 1 year of nursing experience. Compensation BSN Pay Range: $36.05 – $59.92 per hour. ADN Pay Range: $32.97 – $57.06 per hour. Compensation will fall within the range and may vary based on experience, qualifications, education, licensure, certification requirements, and comparison to colleagues in similar roles.
