Job Title: RN Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 5 years of direct patient care nursing experience required. License: RN - Registered Nurse Certifications: - ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or equivalent. - BLS - Basic Life Support or equivalent. Must-Have: - All required certifications upon hire. Description: The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. This role ensures that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. The nurse practices in a clinical environment managed by nurse managers and supported through a shared governance model. The framework for practice is guided by a professional practice model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies stem from these models and are supported by core values. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing per the applicable state practice act. They implement the scope of practice and code of ethics standards outlined by the relevant nursing association. As part of the patient services team, the RN Clinical Nurse upholds the voice of the patient, system policies, and service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The nurse performs the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Clinical care is provided using evidence-based practice and analytical thinking, ensuring care is individualized. Coordination of care is achieved through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central to optimal patient care outcomes. The nurse provides relationship-based, patient-centered care consistent with specific population characteristics. They partner with patients and significant others to ensure goals are the focus of the plan of care. Current clinical practice standards are utilized in all patient interactions. Teamwork and Collaboration: The delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care promotes a professional care delivery model. This includes diverse and inclusive communication methods, timely documentation, and a respectful clinical environment. The nurse demonstrates teamwork and collaboration while practicing in a fiscally responsible manner. Participation in performance improvement activities that involve all stakeholders is expected. The RN supports shared governance at all levels within the system. Professional Development and Initiative: The nurse completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education. They serve as a preceptor and mentor for other nurses and staff to ensure a qualified workforce. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: Promotion of evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement is essential. Participation in decision-making processes regarding patient care products is expected. The nurse adheres to all organizational policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Participation in data collection and advanced evidence-based practice inquiries is required. Resources and Support: The nurse proactively plans for the care of patients across the continuum while providing direct patient care. Participation in the development of protocols and procedures is encouraged to achieve best practice outcomes. The RN supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources. Other duties as assigned may include compliance with all relevant policies and standards of conduct.
