Cook

The Cook assists the Chef or General Manager by preparing, cooking, and serving food. Essential functions include preparing and cooking food items according to recipes, daily menus, and supervisor instructions. The Cook is also responsible for cleaning and inspecting kitchen equipment, operating food stations, requisitioning supplies, monitoring menus and spending, and maintaining awareness of safety issues.

Skill and knowledge requirements include partial high school education, culinary knowledge, food safety certification, strong sanitation habits, and strong customer service abilities. The Cook must be able to recognize and communicate problems to management.

Physical and mental requirements include moving about on foot, bending, lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 50 lbs. regularly, standing for the entire work day, climbing steps, withstanding temperature extremes, reading and writing work-related documents in English, and speech recognition and clarity.

Equipment used includes standard commercial cooking machinery and utensils.
