Physician - Infectious Diseases Section Chief

Job Title

Incumbent will be a member of the Medical Service and will participate in patient care, teaching and administrative activities as assigned.

Duties

The incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

• Providing leadership and administrative support to the Infectious Diseases Section in the role of Section Chief.
• Continue and further the development of the clinical programs.
• Providing patient care in the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System.
• Supervise and teach medical students, interns and residents, and fellows.
• Participate in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance projects and other administrative duties as assigned.
• Provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in all clinical settings.
• Evaluate and triage specialty consults.
• Obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, recommend, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients.
• Provide on-call services as assigned.
• Participate in monitoring the quality, safety, and appropriateness of patient care.
• Perform administrative tasks as assigned.
• Participate in the educational programs for section personnel as well as the medical staff.
