Affinity Consulting Group is assisting with the hiring of a Non-Profit Organizations Corporate Attorney for one of our law firm clients. This is a remote position for someone located in the New York City vicinity.

About the Law Firm:

The firm is an established NYC-based boutique law firm focused exclusively on advising nonprofit organizations and mission-driven entities. Founded in 2011, the firm has operated continuously and profitably since inception. 

The firm represents a broad range of nonprofit and mission-driven clients working in areas such as economic development, fiscal sponsorship, conservation, youth services, the arts, government improvement, education, and technology.   Many of our clients are deeply rooted in supporting and advancing New York City, and the firm's impact is visible throughout the City. 

The Firm provides our clients with hands-on long-term corporate counsel representation that is more akin to an in-house general counsel than the typical narrow scope law firm representation.  We work with all levels and facets of their organizations, and provide a blend of legal, strategic and pragmatic guidance. Our clients think of us as their legal experts, thought partners and team members. 

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced transactional attorney to join the Firm's growing practice.  This is a client-facing corporate role within a focused tax-exempt organizations practice. Matters are sophisticated, high-volume, and operationally real, involving governance, contracts, and organizational decision-making for nonprofits. The attorney in this position will work across the full breadth of the firm's corporate and nonprofit matters.   

The position involves a broad range of corporate and nonprofit legal work, including: 

• Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing contracts, from routine operational agreements to complex and specialized transactions, including the development of user-friendly templates 
• Advising on nonprofit governance, board matters, and organizational policies 
• Handling all aspects of corporate formation and restructuring 
• Conducting legal research on New York Non-Profit Corporation Law, employment law, and legislative developments affecting nonprofit organizations 

Candidate Qualifications: 

We are seeking an experienced attorney with a solid academic and professional record and a demonstrated focus on advising nonprofit organizations.

Candidates should have:

• J.D. with strong academic credentials and admission to practice in New York
• 5+ years of direct nonprofit corporate transactional experience, ideally within a tax-exempt organization or advising tax-exempt organization clients regularly at a law firm
• Experience handling nonprofit governance, contracts, and corporate matters as a core part of their practice (i.e., not just occasional nonprofit or pro bono matters)
• Ability to step into client matters with minimal ramp-up and limited training
• A genuine commitment to mission-driven work and building a long-term role with the Firm. 
• Candidates should be seeking a long-term, committed role within a boutique firm environment
