A Little About Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided the highest quality of behavioral health services to residents of the cities of Hampton and Newport News, Virginia, offering a comprehensive array of programs for both children and adults living with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders. About the Position The Full-Time Residential Supervisor for the MH Regional Supervised Housing Program plays a crucial role in transforming the lives of individuals with severe mental illness and possible co-occurring substance use disorders. By providing a supportive living environment, this position aims to minimize hospital stays and maximize independence through tailored supports, training, and individualized services. You will supervise agency-operated residential facilities, ensuring that each client receives high-quality care and support aligned with their personal goals and needs. Collaboration with the Residential Services Manager will be essential as you lead a dedicated team focused on engaging individuals in vital treatments, from psychiatric care to vocational programs. Your efforts will empower clients to make informed choices about their lives while assisting them in navigating financial and medical benefits. Essential Qualifications To succeed as a Full-Time Residential Supervisor in the MH Regional Supervised Housing Program, candidates must possess a Bachelors Degree in Human Services, such as Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or Counseling, along with two years of experience in service collaboration, coordination, and psychoeducation. Strong leadership skills and the ability to supervise and train staff are essential, as is having at least three years of practice as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), with registration from the Board of Counseling. Familiarity with therapeutic techniques and a commitment to empowering individuals with severe mental illness and co-occurring disorders will be crucial. Additionally, candidates should have a Valid Virginia drivers license to facilitate client engagement and program participation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate empathy, strong communication abilities, and a dedication to fostering independence in clients while maintaining a high standard of care within a supportive team environment. Knowledge and Skills Required Bachelors Degree in Human Services such as Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or Counseling Two (2) years of experience providing service collaboration coordination and psychoeducation services. Supervisory experience is a plus. Must be registered with the Board of Counseling as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) have a minimum of three (3) years of practice and meet eligibility requirements to serve as a QMHP Supervisor. Valid Virginia drivers license. The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
