Summary

An established general contractor is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support ground-up and occupied rehabilitation multifamily construction projects across California. This role works closely with the lead Superintendent to manage day-to-day field operations, coordinate subcontractors, and help drive projects from groundbreaking through closeout.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their field leadership career who wants hands-on mentorship, real responsibility, and long-term growth with a builder that has a strong and active multifamily pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Superintendent in overseeing daily field operations on multifamily construction projects
• Coordinate subcontractor activities, deliveries, inspections, and site logistics
• Monitor project schedules and communicate progress updates to the project team
• Assist with quality control walkthroughs and ensure work is completed per plans and specifications
• Help maintain jobsite safety compliance and OSHA standards
• Document daily field activity including reports, photos, and site logs
• Review drawings and flag RFIs, conflicts, or discrepancies to the Superintendent
• Support punchlist completion and project closeout activities
• Assist with subcontractor meetings and trade sequencing coordination

Requirements

• 2 to 5 years of field construction experience within a GC environment
• Multifamily, affordable housing, or residential construction experience preferred
• Eagerness to grow into a lead Superintendent role over time
• Basic understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and site coordination
• Ability to work effectively under a lead Superintendent and take direction
• Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction software a plus
• Strong communication, organization, and follow-through
