Manager, Healthcare Payer Practice

As a Manager, you will serve as a client service leader responsible for managing complex client engagements, leading multidisciplinary teams, building trusted client relationships, and driving measurable business outcomes. You will play a key role in growing client accounts, developing our consulting talent, and contributing to the continued growth of the Healthcare Practice.ResponsibilitiesClient DeliveryLead end-to-end client engagements, managing scope, budget, timelines, profitability, multiple workstreams, and overall delivery qualityServe as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders, providing strategic guidance on business transformation and operational improvement initiativesLead cross-functional teams to implement processes and technology that drive business value and improve operational efficiency across business and technical functionsPartner with executive and business stakeholders to define future-state operating models, business processes, and transformation roadmapsFacilitate executive workshops to define strategic vision, business requirements, and implementation priorities across the healthcare ecosystemOversee solution evaluations and recommendations aligned with leading healthcare industry practicesManage project risks, ensure adherence to quality assurance, legal, and risk management standards, and proactively resolve delivery challengesLead multiple engagements concurrently while ensuring high-quality client outcomes and strong client satisfactionLeverage AI tools to improve delivery quality, accelerate project execution, and create greater value for clientsProject & Engagement LeadershipOwn engagement planning, staffing, financial management, project reporting, and overall delivery governanceDevelop executive-level communications, steering committee materials, implementation plans, and strategic recommendationsMonitor engagement financial performance, proactively managing scope, budgets, profitability, and resource allocationBuild and lead high-performing project teams while coaching consultants and senior consultants throughout deliveryFoster strong collaboration across West Monroe and client teams to ensure successful project executionBusiness DevelopmentParticipate in pursuits for new clients, change orders, and engagement extensionsIdentify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through proactive account management and organic growth conversationsSupport proposal development, solution design, client presentations, and sales strategyBuild trusted relationships with healthcare executives and contribute to expanding West Monroe's presence within the marketRepresent West Monroe through industry events, networking, and thought leadership activitiesPractice DevelopmentCoach, mentor, and develop consultants and senior consultants while serving as a Career AdvisorHelp recruit, interview, and retain top consulting talentDevelop and enhance methodologies, tools, reusable assets, and delivery approaches that improve engagement quality and consistencyShare healthcare industry expertise across the practice and contribute to knowledge developmentParticipate in internal initiatives that strengthen West Monroe's culture, collaboration, and inclusive communityQualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent experience required6+ years of consulting experience working directly with external healthcare clients, including experience leading client engagements and managing consulting teamsStrong understanding of healthcare payer and/or dental plan operationsExperience leading large transformation initiatives involving organizational transformation, process improvement, operating model design, technology implementation, or product developmentDemonstrated experience managing engagement scope, budgets, project financials, staffing, and multiple concurrent workstreamsExperience leading cross-functional consulting teams and mentoring junior team membersStrong executive presence with the ability to influence senior and executive-level stakeholdersExperience leading business development activities, including proposals, client presentations, account expansion, and identifying follow-on opportunitiesStrong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written, verbal, and presentation skillsAbility to travel to client sites (30–50%)A commitment to inclusion and diversity, and openness to new ideas and perspectivesBased on pay transparency guidelines, the salary range for this role can vary based on your proximity to one of our West Monroe offices (see table below). Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance.
