9/8 Central, an EMMY award-winning digital marketing agency in Greenville, SC, is looking for a full-time Lead Videographer to join our growing team.

First, a little about you:

You love making content for social media. The pace of it, the volume of it, the fact that you'll shoot more in a month than most people shoot in a year. This is where the attention is, and you'd rather be where the attention is.

You don't think of social media as the lesser cousin of real filmmaking. You think it's harder. You get three seconds to earn the next three. You're framing for vertical while you're still blocking the shot, and you know that a beautiful piece nobody watches past the hook isn't beautiful. It's just expensive.

You still love a production day. The early call time, the truck packed the night before, the moment the first shot comes up better than the storyboard did. You know a good shoot day isn't luck. It's someone thinking three steps ahead all day long, and you like being that someone.

You're technical without being precious about it. You can run camera, set a light, fix the teleprompter, and troubleshoot the LED wall, and you'll do whichever one the day actually needs. Titles matter less to you than the footage being right.

You're good with people, which is rarer than it should be in this job. You can tell when a client is nervous about being on camera and you know how to get them talking like a human again. You welcome guests onto set like you're glad they came, because you are.

For you, it's not about the gear. It's about the person in front of the camera feeling comfortable enough to say the thing, and about it landing with somebody who was about to keep scrolling.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Pre-Production

• Builds shot lists and production plans in alignment with the director, as needed
• Leads the creative for the shoots you are assigned
• Collaborates with the social media team on ideas
• Creates and distributes shoot-day schedules
• Books crew, talent, locations, and permits
• Sources, preps, and tests technical elements ahead of shoot day
• Flags scope and budget risks as they surface
• Works with the social team to refine shot lists against the script
• Builds shot lists that produce volume, capturing multiple usable pieces per setup
• Contributes social content ideas during concepting
• Explores ways to use AI and automation to speed up scheduling, documentation, and shoot prep

Production

• Coordinates with the crew
• Serves as Director on assigned projects, and supports our Director of Production on the ones that they lead
• Coaches clients and on-camera talent through best practices so they feel comfortable and sound like themselves
• Serves in key technical roles as needed, including Directing, camera, lighting, and photography
• Runs assigned studio productions and podcast sessions
• Shoots social-first content as the primary deliverable on most projects, keeping volume high without letting quality slip
• Ensures media backup and redundancy on every shoot
• Travels for projects as needed, currently 10–15%

Post-Production

• Hands off media, documentation, and shoot notes to editors
• Supports finishing work, including color grading and photo editing

Studio & Facilities

• Maintains studio cleanliness and readiness for productions, tours, and events
• Owns gear prep, storage, tracking, and maintenance
• Maintains battery systems and equipment firmware
• Operates and troubleshoots the LED wall
• Drives the grip truck to set and keeps it packed, serviced, and ready
• Recommends equipment upgrades and looks for tools that make production days run better

Contractor & On-Set Relations

• Welcomes clients, guests, and talent on set
• Maintains contractor relationships, including sourcing, vetting, and negotiating vendor rates
• Confirms paperwork, releases, and arrival logistics before anyone shows up

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years of professional video production experience, including time leading or directing shoots
• Strong hands-on command of camera, lighting, and audio, with the range to step into whichever role the day needs
• Real experience shooting for social, including vertical formats, and a genuine preference for that kind of work
• Interest in running studio productions, ideally including LED wall environments
• Comfortable directing talent and coaching clients who are not used to being on camera
• Excellent planning and time management, with the discipline to keep gear, paperwork, and logistics tight
• Valid driver's license and comfort driving and maintaining a grip truck
• Willingness to learn automation and experiment with AI to work smarter
• You genuinely love production days. The early calls, the problem solving, the moment the shot finally works
• You pay attention to what performs on social, and you can explain why something worked

• You speak up about gear, workflow, and safety issues instead of working around them quietly.

You are a creative authority on set and in this building. Clients read your confidence as a measure of whether their project is in good hands.

Here's what that means:

• You know our cameras, lights, LED wall, and studio systems well enough that the equipment is never the obstacle.
• You can step into directing or camera operating and hold the standard in any of them.
• You know how content behaves on each platform and you shoot for where it's going to live.
• You give clients and talent direction that makes them better on camera.
• You keep learning the gear, the techniques, and the tools, and you tell us what we should be investing in next.

Being the expert means people trust the day to you and stop worrying about it.

Find a Way

Production breaks. Weather turns, talent runs late, a camera goes down, the wall glitches forty minutes before a client walks in. The shoot still has to happen.

Here's what that means:

• You solve for the day you actually have instead of the one on paper.
• You keep the crew calm and moving when the plan changes.
• You get the shot with what's in the truck.
• You look for better ways to work, including automation and AI, so more of the day goes to the creative part.

Finding a way means the footage is captured. Every time.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS :

Salary

~$60,000–$70,000 per year, based on experience

Hours

40 hours per week on average. Shoot days run longer than office days, and travel is currently 10–15% of the role
