Bankruptcy Associate Attorney - Growth & Mentorship

Chapter 7, Chapter 13, foreclosure defense, debt relief. We practice throughout Ohio, appearing in bankruptcy courts across the state, and the work matters — clients remember it. What You’ll Do Draft Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 petitions, schedules, and plans. Conduct legal research on dischargeability, exemptions, lien stripping, and plan confirmation issues. Represent clients at 341 meetings of creditors and bankruptcy court hearings across Ohio. Counsel clients through their options and walk them through the process. Maintain client files and manage case progression with our paralegal team. Contribute to strategy on contested matters and adversary proceedings. What We’re Looking For A recent law school graduate or attorney early in their career, admitted (or sitting for admission) in Ohio. Strong research and writing skills. Some courtroom experience is a plus, but the real qualifications are a strong work ethic, genuine empathy for clients in difficult situations, and a curiosity to master a complex area of practice. Prior bankruptcy exposure is welcome but not required — we’ll teach you. Willingness to travel within Ohio for court appearances is essential. What We Offer Salary of $70,000–$100,000 based on experience Profit‑sharing bonus Medical insurance 401(k) plan Real mentorship from attorneys invested in your growth Exposure to multiple bankruptcy courts and trustees across Ohio A practice where your work directly improves people’s lives Responsibilities Draft documents such as correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, settlement agreements, and contracts for use in proceedings and contract negotiations. Keep files organized to ensure the most recent updates are accessible. Perform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and provide general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneys. Resolve cases efficiently by communicating effectively with and working alongside senior attorneys and paralegals. Review client issues on legal matters, analyze available options, and diligently work to determine the best course of action. Onboard new clients. Attend meeting of creditors for Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. Attend court hearings. Communicate with clients, courts, and trustees. Follow up with clients for documents. Review petitions and schedules. Analyze clients’ financial situations. Provide solutions to clients. Prepare motions and briefs. Willing to pursue a career in bankruptcy. Qualifications Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association). Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree required from an accredited law school. Ability to work with senior attorneys to best serve client needs and grow our client base. Exceptional communication and problem‑solving skills needed to work with all levels of staff and clients. Successful completion of the bar exam. Experienced bankruptcy attorney. Must be organized. Must have good communication skills. Must be willing to seek self‑improvement.
