Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist will provide high-quality respiratory care services for adult and geriatric patients in a critical care and emergency department setting. The therapist will collaborate closely with healthcare teams to ensure optimal respiratory support and participate in rapid response initiatives throughout the facility.

Shift Information

• Schedule: Day shifts, 3x12 hours (07:00 - 19:30)
• Weekend and holiday availability is mandatory.
• No block scheduling options available.

Time Off Policies

• Up to 2 pre-approved time-off requests are permitted per contract.
• The system will auto approve time-off requests for 14 days or less.
• Every other winter and summer holiday is required; no time-off requests are approved during these periods.
• No time-off requests on hard-to-fill days such as Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years of Respiratory Therapy experience is required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification is preferred; Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT) with 5 years of experience may be considered.
• Experience in Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings is mandatory.
• ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
• Active Maryland Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure is required.

Experience Requirements

• Experience in adult critical care and emergency department contexts is essential.
• Skills in airway management including extubation, intubation assistance, suctioning, and tracheostomy care are necessary.
• Comfort with managing patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomies is expected.
• Experience providing bronchoscopy support and sputum specimen collection is advantageous.
• Knowledge of ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, pressure-alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation is required.
• Proficient in chest physiotherapy, arterial blood gas collection, and ABG interpretation.

Special Equipment Experience

• BiPAP and CPAP
• Mechanical ventilators
• High-flow oxygen and various oxygen delivery systems
• Nebulizer and aerosol medication-delivery systems

Charting System

Candidates should have experience with Cerner or similar charting systems.

Scrub Color

Charcoal/Dark Grey scrubs are required.

Additional Information

This role does not require floating between different units, and local candidates are welcome to apply. No on-call duties are associated with this position.
