Deputy Sheriff I/II - El Dorado County Sheriff's Office Maximum potential pay without overtime: $70.75/hr, $12,263/month, $147,160/year. Recruitment Incentive: $6,000 paid in equal installments over the first 26 consecutive biweekly pay periods. If employment is terminated, remaining incentive payments are forfeited. Incentives are subject to El Dorado County Personnel Rules. Additional Pays: AA/AS degree: 2%; BA/BS degree: 5%; MA/MS degree: 5% (max 10%). Intermediate POST Certificate: 6.5%; Advanced POST Certificate: 12.5%. Specialty Assignment (e.g., Detective, FTO, Resident Deputy): 5%. Holiday Pay (4 hours @ hourly rate), Optional Benefit Credit ($160/24pp), Uniform Allowance ($41.67/24pp), Tahoe Differential ($92.30/26pp). Responsibilities Respond to a variety of calls for service throughout El Dorado County, enforcing criminal and civil laws. Investigate juvenile and adult criminal activity as assigned detective. Coordinate crime scene control and investigation, including interviews, interrogations, witness identification, and evidence preservation. Serve as coordinator or team member on special projects such as drug enforcement, Office of Emergency Services, or K9 handling. Provide Coroner/Public Administrator services. Qualifications Deputy Sheriff I Successful completion of a California POST certified Basic Law Enforcement Academy within one year of appointment. Obtain Peace Officer eligibility through the California State Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training within six months of appointment. Obtain and maintain firearms qualification. Possession of a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. At least 21 years of age and possess a high‑school diploma or GED. Deputy Sheriff II Possession of a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. Possession of a Basic Certificate issued by POST. Maintain Peace Officer eligibility and certification through POST. Maintain firearms qualification.
