Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

This is a 13-week contract position.

Night shift - 3x12 hour shifts.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. The therapist evaluates patients, recommends treatment plans, and explains the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients, providing necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment.
• Administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation to patients.
• Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance using specialized equipment.
• Conduct suctioning procedures and monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patient chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies as necessary.
• Assist in respiratory care procedures such as bronchoscopy and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor efficiency of ventilation.
• Ensure accurate respiratory therapy documentation and patient chart records.
• Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Current Respiratory Therapy License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
