Infection Control Practitioner

Job Summary Location: Geisinger Wyoming Valley (GWV). Shift: Days. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40. Worker Type: Regular. Exemption Status: Yes. As part of one of the Top 8 Most Innovative Healthcare Systems, this role focuses on improving patient quality, satisfaction, and infection prevention and control to support regulatory surveys. Job Duties & Responsibilities Provide quality patient care and drive patient satisfaction. Lead infection prevention and control activities for both inpatient and outpatient settings. Coordinate and perform rounds in all patient care areas. Recommend changes and deliver education on infection control practices based on surveillance data. Identify, record, and report hospital‑acquired infections per Act 5 requirements. Review laboratory data and medical records for surveillance and reporting. Analyze records, prepare incidence reports, and communicate findings. Participate in all regulatory surveys and support necessary documentation. Collaborate with community health agencies and other institutions for coordinated infection control services. Assist public health authorities with investigations of reportable infections as required. Perform concurrent and retrospective medical record reviews to identify potential hospital‑acquired infections. Maintain job‑specific obligations and comply with all organization policies and procedures. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree required. A bachelor’s in respiratory therapy, surgical specialties, laboratory, public health, or other clinically based field is helpful. Minimum of 2 years clinical related work experience required. Must be able to work on‑site at Geisinger Wyoming Valley (GWV), Wilkes‑Barre, PA. Certification(s) & License(s) Not specified.
