THE ROLE: We are seeking an experienced Board Design & Field Systems Engineer to support new product development, combining deep-board design expertise with system bring-up and field deployment responsibilities.THE PERSON:This role acts as a bridge between hardware design, validation, and field engineering, requiring strong end-to-end system knowledge and hands-on debug experience. The candidate will drive platform bring-up, rapid issue resolution, and customer enablement, while contributing to board design and system development.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead board design and development for high-performance FPGA/ASIC platforms, including schematic design, component selection, and system architecture.Collaborate on PCB layout, SI/PI optimization, and design reviews to ensure robust and manufacturable solutions.Own hardware bring-up, system stabilization, and complex debugging, including power, SI/PI, and firmware-hardware interactions.Support DVT execution and perform root-cause analysis for system-level issues.Act as technical liaison for field deployments, supporting system integration, customer issues, and real-world debug scenarios.Provide cross-stack troubleshooting across hardware, firmware, and system software.Work closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to drive integration, issue resolution, and manufacturing readiness."PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Strong experience in high-speed board/system design.Strong expertise in: DDR4/DDR5, PCIe, Ethernet, high-speed interfacesSignal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI)FPGA-based platforms and system integrationHands-on experience with board bring-up and debugging complex hardware issues.Proficiency in EDA tools (Cadence Allegro / OrCAD ).Strong cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership skills.ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering/Electrical Engineering LOCATION: San Jose, CAThis role is not eligible for visa sponsorship#LI-SL3Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.AMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
