Associate HVAC Project Manager

6 Month Contract to Hire

Location: Tampa, FL - Hybrid

Rate: $35hr-$40hr

The Associate HVAC Project Manager provides construction-based support to the Project Manager. Operations Manager and Project Team throughout all phases of HVAC/R projects. The role focuses heavily on construction administration while also being involved field coordination, construction sequencing, and technical documentation to ensure HVAC/R systems are installed safely, on time, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the HVAC construction process from project kickoff through commissioning and closeout
• Assist with the review of mechanical drawings, specifications, and submittals to confirm scope, system requirements, and constructability
• Develop, update, and maintain construction schedules using Microsoft Project, coordinating sequencing with other trades
• Assist in planning and tracking HVAC installation activities, including ductwork, piping, equipment setting, and controls integration
• Coordinate with field supervisors and subcontractors to support daily construction operations and resolve technical or constructability issues
• Prepare and administer subcontracts, ensuring alignment with project drawings, specifications, schedules, and construction scope
• Track manpower, material deliveries, equipment lead times, and installation progress
• Support RFI, change order, and field issue resolution, including documentation and pricing assistance
• Review subcontractor and vendor invoices, verifying completed work and supporting cost control efforts
• Respond to customer emails and communications in a professional and timely manner, providing project updates, clarifications, and coordination between the customer, field teams, and internal stakeholders
• Assist with preparing written responses related to schedules, construction status, technical questions, and field coordination
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including construction logs, correspondence, technical records, and closeout materials
• Support system startup, testing, and commissioning activities as required

Technical Skills & Knowledge

• Working knowledge of HVAC/R systems is preferred,
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and construction documents is preferred,
• Understanding of construction means and methods for commercial installations
• Microsoft Project and standard construction management tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including customer-facing correspondence
• Attention to detail, construction quality, safety, and schedule adherence.

Project Scope

• Support HVAC construction projects ranging in size from $10,000 to $2,000,000, with an average project value of approximately $300,000.
• Assist in managing multiple projects simultaneously across varying scopes, complexities, and construction phases.
• Ensure project controls, scheduling, documentation, and technical coordination are applied consistently regardless of project size.
