Diesel Mechanic

Our growing auto body shop seeks a mechanic to join our talented team of auto mechanics and service technicians. The ideal candidate should be comfortable assessing vehicle components ranging from electronic systems to air conditioning units. Maintenance work experience, manual dexterity, and communication skills are required. Apply today if you are eager to take on the mechanic duties that will drive our shop forward!Compensation:$25 - $35 hourlyResponsibilities:Perform system inspections, test drives, and diagnostic tests to determine necessary repair work
Ensure accurate record-keeping for vehicle repairs, maintenance, and service history
Creating estimates for auto repair work and their respective timelines for sharing with customers
Encourage and facilitate preventive maintenance work such as oil changes, air conditioning service, flushing, brake replacement, tire rotation, and more
Source and remediate mechanical problems and malfunction codes that are identified in the vehicles mechanical systems, electrical system, and electronic systems

Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Immediately reports any discrepancies to the Fleet ManagerEnsures compliance with all fleet processesUnder general supervision, performs preventive maintenance services and inspects, diagnoses, and repairs vehicles and equipmentUtilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairsPerforms service calls for emergency breakdownsConducts safety checks on vehiclesCompletes required paperwork utilizing the fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair timesReviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection ReportsMaintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety proceduresOther duties as assignedQualifications:Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent
Good manual dexterity and effective use of hand tools and other equipment needed for vehicle repairs
A valid driver’s license is necessary
Associate’s degree from a vocational program, technical school, or community college is preferred - ASE certification is a big bonus
Must be an effective communicator who maintains a solid work ethic
