Salary:  $75,000-80,000

Job Summary

Chartwells Higher Education is hiring a CATERING EXECUTIVE CHEF on the campus of The UNIVERSITY of TEXAS (Rio Grande Valley VAQUEROS) , in Edinburg, TX.  If your roots run deep in Latin and Hispanic soul cuisine and southwestern cooking, this is your stage. In this role, you’ll help lead a  dynamic catering program , designing menus that range from elevated TEXAS classics to modern, chef-driven experiences for GAME DAY suites, community events and campus functions. You’ll have the creative freedom to put your signature on every plate while staying sharp on execution—managing food costs, building efficient systems, and leading a team that takes pride in every detail. This is hands-on cooking at its best, where your leadership sets the tone and your food leaves a lasting impression.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Direct the preparation and cooking of various food items.
• Planning and creating menus.
• Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary team.
• Manage cost controls and controlling expenditure.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• On-site for all game day catering (football and baseball premium suites)

Qualifications:

• 5 years of related culinary experience including 1 year at the management level.
• Experience in banquet halls, resorts, convention centers, hotels, corporate dining, campus catering or related food service operations.
• Knowledge of food and industry trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, safety, food cost controls, and presentation.
• Ability to set up and distribute production sheets.
• Supervisory, leadership, training, management, and coaching skills.
• ServSafe or Department of Health Certification is preferred.
• Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products including Excel.
• Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.
