System Administrator 1

Description:

Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a System Administrator 1 to support the implementation, maintenance, and day-to-day operations of IT systems across enterprise environments.

This role focuses on mission operations sustainment, including system monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining operational stability across Linux-based environments. The ideal candidate will provide hands-on support for infrastructure, assist with performance monitoring, and help resolve issues in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance support for IT systems
• Perform Tier 1 and Tier 2 problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution
• Monitor system performance and ensure reliability across servers, storage, and network devices
• Configure and maintain Linux-based operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Rocky, SLES, Ubuntu)
• Support OS installation, file systems, TCP/IP networking, and software deployment
• Assist with troubleshooting system and application issues using Bash scripting and standard tools
• Support system monitoring and alerting using tools such as Nagios, Prometheus, and Grafana
• Work with configuration management and automation tools (e.g., Salt, Ansible)
• Collaborate using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Git-based repositories
• Support performance tuning and capacity planning

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (5 additional years of experience may substitute)
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a System Administrator in similar environments
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (or equivalent)
• Experience with Linux system administration, including OS installation, networking, and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with monitoring, automation, and scripting tools (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus, Ansible, Bash)
