The Animals Eye Doctor – Certified Veterinary Technician/Co‑Practice Lead Full‑time Job Overview The Practice Leader (PL) is a hybrid role that combines veterinary‑technical duties with practice‑management leadership. The PL is responsible for creating a positive, collaborative culture, driving operational efficiencies, and serving as a strategic partner in the Thrive Planning leadership meetings. Key functions include hiring and training staff, managing budgets, monitoring performance indicators, maintaining inventory, and implementing safety and security protocols. Responsibilities Lead and coach the veterinary‑technical staff, including hiring, training, and performance management. Prepare and manage the practice budget; read and analyze a P&L statement. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement. Maintain inventory and an inventory‑control system. Implement and enforce safety and security procedures. Collaborate with the leadership team on operational and strategic initiatives. Promote a cooperative working environment and build morale through regular staff meetings and mandatory training. Demonstrate empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion. Support the practice culture and values: service, empathy, accountability, joy, exploration, and teamwork. Hold regular staff meetings, including mandatory training on service and care standards. Promotes a cooperative working environment and values teamwork. Willing to perform necessary tasks to keep the hospital functioning as a unit. Promotes continuous quality improvement (CQI) to achieve the practice’s vision. Qualifications 5+ years veterinary‑technical experience. CVT licensure required. Proficiency in IV catheter placement, blood work, and IV, IM, and SQ injections. Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and using various monitoring equipment. Team player with strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to analyze multiple data sources and prioritize operational initiatives. Sound judgment and decision‑making ability. Experience leading, managing, and coaching staff at all levels. Demonstrated competence in hiring and firing. Empathy toward clients and compassion toward animals. Commitment to outstanding client service. Competence in budgeting and financial reporting, including reading and analyzing a P&L statement. Solid math and Excel/spreadsheet skills. Three years of supervisory experience. Preferred: three or more years of practice management. Physical requirement: lift 40 pounds without assistance and more than 40 pounds with assistance. Availability to work uncommon hours, overtime, and recall for business emergencies.
