Principal Duties and Responsibilities Quality: Support and drive organization quality standards through meeting regulatory and accrediting body requirements and the practice of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), including use of CQI tools. Assist with implementation of organization quality goals and facility‑specific action plans to achieve organization quality standards. Accountable for outstanding quality of patient care, ensuring policies and procedures are followed. Address and act on adverse events and action thresholds in collaboration with facility management. Maintain integrity of medical records and other organization administrative and operational records, complying with data collection and auditing activities. Maintain facility environmental integrity and safety. Patient: Obtain medical history, discuss procedure, answer questions, and perform nursing assessment on the day of the procedure. Provide education to patients and families regarding post‑procedure care of vascular access. Monitor patient condition before, during, and after procedure, especially for moderate sedation and contrast media injections for possible complications or reactions. Act as a resource for patients, addressing concerns and questions, and communicate patient‑related issues to facility management. Complete documentation of patient information from admission to discharge accurately. Confirm that written orders, consents, and lab work are completed and documented in accordance with facility policies. Maintain competency with emergency procedures, initiating CPR and other emergency measures as needed. Administer medications and IV moderate sedation as directed by the physician, in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Act as scrub technologist, assisting the physician with sterile technique. Assist with patient workflow, transporting patients as needed. Perform point‑of‑care laboratory testing and IV insertion per physician orders. Physicians: Provide regular, effective communication with physicians as needed. Attend and participate in CQI meetings, reporting on assigned topics. Assist facility management in verifying necessary instruments and equipment. Assist in completing and reporting adverse event reports per state and internal procedures. Maintenance / Technical: Operate facility equipment and technology safely, including monitors, defibrillators, sterilizers, and computers. Inspect equipment operation, report malfunctions or maintenance needs. Inspect operating systems and physical structure, reporting issues to the Facility Manager. Ensure a clean, safe, sanitary environment and address blood spills per policies. Administrative: Assist with efficient utilization of medication, laboratory, inventory, and supplies to achieve cost goals. Help develop and revise policies and procedures for continuous improvement. Assist with monthly CQI activities, reports, and meetings. Maintain medication supply, including inventory control and proper recording of controlled substances. Complete usage logs and drug disposal records in accordance with law. Assist with maintaining supply inventory, ordering, and restocking supplies. Examine emergency equipment and stock the crash cart regularly. Perform accurate medical record completion before patient discharge. Conduct regular chart audits. Participate in regulatory surveys and action plans. Submit state‑required records for implanted devices accurately and timely. Participate in staff meetings, training, and orientation as assigned. Comply with HIPAA policies regarding patient information. Assist with various projects as assigned. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Day‑to‑day work includes desk and personal computer work, patient interaction, and staff collaboration. The role requires heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting ambulation, with support available as needed. Requires frequent prolonged standing, bending, and occasional assistance moving patients and equipment up to 200lb. Work environment is a healthcare facility with controlled air temperature and moderate noise. May be exposed to infectious agents, radiation, and required protective gear. Education High school diploma required; Associate’s degree desirable and bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (RN) with current state licensure and ACLS certification required. Experience and Required Skills 4–6 years of related experience preferred in office‑based surgical centers, ambulatory surgical centers, vascular access, cardiac cath labs, interventional radiology, ICU/CCU, or emergency departments. Proficient in computer use and Microsoft Office. Proficient in IV insertion and cardiac rhythm recognition. Experience with medical database software. Certified in BLS & ACLS.
