Certified Surgical Technologist

Job Summary:

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) provides skilled assistance in the operating room, supporting surgeons and the surgical team in a Level III trauma center environment. This role involves preparing the operating room, managing surgical instruments, and ensuring patient safety during a variety of procedures including Orthopedic, Neuro/Spine, Robotics, Urology, GYN, ENT, Plastics, and Trauma surgeries. The CST collaborates closely with the surgical team, maintains sterile fields, and adheres to all regulatory and safety standards. An active Colorado CST license and relevant certifications are required. Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain sterile surgical instruments and equipment for various surgical procedures.
• Assist surgeons and surgical team during operations by passing instruments and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols in the operating room.
• Set up and operate specialized surgical equipment including robotics systems.
• Participate in rotating on-call schedules to provide surgical support as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to surgical procedures and equipment usage.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care during surgery.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Colorado Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) license issued by DORA.
• Certification from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), Association of Surgical Technologists (AST), or NCCT.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Experience with orthopedic, total joint, neuro/spine, robotics, urology, gynecology, ENT, plastics, and trauma surgeries.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Proof of current flu vaccination (no exemptions allowed).

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in a Level III trauma center or similar acute care setting.
• Familiarity with advanced surgical robotics systems such as Exactech, Mako, Stealth, and DaVinci.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills in high-pressure surgical environments.

Special Considerations:

• Must comply with rotating on-call schedule requirements.
• Work involves exposure to surgical environments requiring strict adherence to sterile technique and infection control.
• Flu vaccination is mandatory with no exemptions permitted.

Scheduling:

• Work schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts per week.
• Shifts include rotating call responsibilities as part of the surgical support team.
