Job Overview Primary City/State: Phoenix, Arizona Department Name: Med/Surg Float-Hosp Work Shift: Day Job Category: Nursing Position Summary Provides exceptional patient care as part of an ICU Float Pool at Banner Estrella Medical Center. Floats to ICU, Med/Surg, PCU, and Obs units as needed. Works 3x12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM–7:30 PM) with weekend rotations, receiving an 18% night shift differential, $3/hour weekend incentive, and $3/hour float incentive. Core Responsibilities Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; reviews history and physical; reviews lab and diagnostic data; reports abnormal results to the physician and appropriate caregivers. Formulates a patient‑specific plan of care, including discharge planning, and collaborates with multi‑disciplinary team members to revise the plan as patient needs change. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health‑care team activities, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements. Evaluates the patient’s and family’s response to care and teaching, revises the plan as needed, and monitors progress toward goals. Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a legible and timely manner. Provides care based on the best evidence, participates in unit or facility shared leadership, and supports education, orientation, and precepting of staff, patients, students, families, and visitors. Contributes to society by improving patient outcomes, participating in nursing quality initiatives and professional organizations. May supervise staff and workflow within the department, when applicable. Interacts with all levels of staff, patients, families, and external contacts, including clergy to provide spiritual support, to timely communicate and clarify patient information. Minimum Qualifications Current, valid RN license in state of practice (or temporary/interim/compact RN licensure). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Minimum one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute‑care hospital within the past 12 months, with the ability to float to ICU, Med/Surg, PCU, and Obs units. Maintenance of clinical performance competencies demonstrated through annual validations. Ability to pass a State of Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and a Criminal History Affidavit when required for behavioral health roles. For Home Health‑related positions, a valid driver’s license, a personal vehicle, and active auto insurance coverage. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
