Jack Morton is looking for a  Design Director to join our team. You'll oversee 3D design excellence across our tech portfolio from concept to execution. You bring a sophisticated sense of design that continues to elevate our approach to site planning, exhibits and demos, stages, and interactive installations. You'll also develop a deep understanding of the brand and the client expectations and function as a leader who ensures quality control. Our ideal candidate has a history of developing award-winning Environmental Designs and has experience leading a team of designers. We are looking for someone with the ability to generate thoughtful design concepts that translate into compelling branded live experiences. Stage and event experience are a plus for this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Translate the client's tech brand and event-specific visual ID graphic elements into physical form (shape, texture, light) with a high level of design sophistication and attention to detail.
• Bring a deep stage design and broadcast expertise, always bringing fresh ideas and new solutions while also understanding industry standards and must haves. Infuse new fixtures, materials and solutions into our work in ways that meets the brief and positions us as a thought partner to clients.
• Possess an ability to expand the 3d design language throughout all event touchpoints (stage, demos, exhibits, swag displays).
• Understanding of attendee journeys and ability to create (and advise on) floor plans for both large and small events.
• Oversee 3d design process from briefing, to conceptual (mood, sketch), to modeling + rendering, into construction drawings and fabrication management as well as onsite execution.
• Manage a range of creative talent (art directors, sketch artists, renderers, technical drafting experts, etc) to ensure all programs deliver a high quality of 3d design work + execution.
• Liaise with fabrication and technical vendors to confirm each show is delivered to the Google and Jack standard.
• Have a passion for all scenic elements that complete the experience design to include podiums, furniture, flooring, plants, and other set dressings or props to ensure no detail is missed and all elements are cohesive.
• Design immersive, compelling 3D environments to house branded experiences
• Present concepts to clients and internal stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
• Immerse yourself in the brand and audience to inspire your design
• Be responsible, organized and accountable the work of your team
• Understanding of materials, building techniques and construction drawings
• Create control packages for estimation
• Understand how to work within budgets and regulations  
• Ability to lead and mentor a team  
• Communicate feedback to team members in a constructive fashion
• Collaborate within the Creative department and across the organization
• Communicate with clarity, confidence, competence, professionalism and authenticity
• Stay current with design trends and apply them to your work where relevant
