Technical Accounting Manager

Title: Technical Accounting Manager Company: Technology Enabled Financial Services Compensation: $130,000-$150,000 base, 15% bonus, plus RSUs Location: San Diego, CA or Bay Area, CA, Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote) Overview Our client is hiring a Technical Accounting Manager to support a large scale, transaction driven platform within a complex, regulated environment. This role blends hands on technical accounting with ownership of cross functional initiatives, supporting ongoing platform evolution and business growth. The ideal candidate can lead accounting driven projects across finance, operations, and product, translate complex accounting guidance into clear execution requirements, and help scale institutional quality processes, controls, and reporting. This position sits on a collaborative, well established team with strong leadership and a clear growth trajectory. Responsibilities Technical Accounting and Project Leadership Build a deep understanding of business models, products, and operational workflows across assigned areas Lead or support project scoping, requirements definition, solution design, and testing for new initiatives and enhancements Translate accounting guidance and internal policy into clear, actionable requirements Identify risks early and proactively drive issues through resolution Own timelines, milestones, dependencies, and cross functional coordination Communicate progress and risks clearly across stakeholder levels Research, document, and present technical accounting positions to finance and business partners Core Accounting Operations Prepare, review, and maintain journal entries across multiple accounting areas in accordance with GAAP Ensure timely and accurate close through accruals, reconciliations, and account analysis Assess financial reporting risk and control effectiveness within areas of responsibility Partner with external auditors to support audits and control testing Drive continuous improvement through process efficiencies and automation Qualifications Must Haves 7+ years of technical accounting experience including accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations Experience supporting complex, regulated, or transaction heavy environments Strong GAAP knowledge with ability to document conclusions in formal technical memos Ability to explain complex accounting topics to non accounting stakeholders Public accounting and or large public company experience strongly preferred Strong analytical skills with a track record of process improvement Experience with large scale ERP systems, Oracle preferred Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, communication, and multi tasking skills Solid understanding of financial reporting risk and internal controls Nice to Haves CPA Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or money movement EEO Notice Vaco by Highspring is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race (including but not limited to traits historically associated with race such as hair texture and hair style), color, sex (includes pregnancy or related conditions), religion or creed, national origin, citizenship, age, disability, status as a veteran, union membership, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, political affiliation, or any other protected characteristics as required by federal, state or local law.
