Our Kids After Hours Nurse Practitioner

About Our Kids Center: The Our Kids Center specializes in providing forensic medical evaluations for children when there are concerns of child sexual abuse. Serving approximately 750 children in Middle Tennessee each year, Our Kids is a recognized leader in forensic medical evaluations and research in this field. The successful candidate will be a PRN employee at Nashville General Hospital and assigned to the Our Kids Center.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide after-hours coverage which includes at a minimum 8 shifts per month, some of which are required to be weekends. [weekday shifts: 5p-8a, weekend/holiday shifts: 8a-8a].Triage incoming calls from community partners (DCS, LE, medical providers).Perform forensic medical evaluations on children and adolescents (birth to 15 years of age) with concerns of acute sexual abuse or assault as part of a multidisciplinary team.Provide daytime clinic coverage performing non-acute forensic medical evaluations a minimum of 1 weekday per month after training complete. Additional daytime hours will be required during the training period.Collaborate with law enforcement, Department of Children's Services, and other community partners during sexual abuse investigations.Write detailed reports and provide court testimony when required.Adapt interactions to meet the developmental, cultural, and special needs of each child and family.Additional DutiesParticipate in quality assurance activities including monthly peer review.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Education: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program Master's Degree required.Licensure: Current TN Advanced Practice Nursing or Physician Assistant License.Certification: as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant by national certifying body acceptable to the State of Tennessee Board of Nursing.One (1) year recent pediatric experience and 1 year APN/PA experience with pediatric population preferred.Sexual assault examination experience strongly preferred.Broad knowledge of family violence and child abuse issues plus knowledge of the criminal justice and child protection systems desirable.Why Join the Our Kids TeamThe ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, is passionate about supporting children and families, and values teamwork and flexibility.
