This role applies agile and extreme programming (XP) practices such as test-driven development, paired programming, and continuous integration to create scalable and maintainable systems. The position requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and a collaborative mindset to support business needs while mentoring junior team members.**Work Arrangement*** Work Arrangement: Hybrid — 1 day per week onsite in Dallas, TX or Chicago, IL, and 4 days remote**Job Responsibilities*** Participate in iteration planning meetings to ensure a shared understanding of user stories and team backlog items* Engage in daily standups (site, cross-site, and product teams) and practice paired programming and test-driven development as part of daily work* Contribute to retrospectives by identifying opportunities for process or product improvement* Collaborate in designing systems and applications that meet technical and business requirements* Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices* Provide production support for software products in user environments* Serve as a subject matter expert within a specific business domain, demonstrating leadership and accountability across teams and forums (including ECC and SWAT calls)* Participate in knowledge sharing and contribute to the overall technical growth of the team* Coach and mentor junior engineers on software development best practices and XP methodologies**Essential Skills*** 3-4+ years of software development experience (preferred)* 3+ years of experience hands-on experience developing software using Java and J2EE* 1+ year applying Test Driven Development (TDD) and Extreme Programming (XP) practices within an Agile environment* Strong understanding of computer science concepts and object-oriented design principles* Familiarity with continuous integration and DevOps tools such as IntelliJ IDEA, GitHub, Jenkins, SonarQube, Gradle, or Maven* Proficiency in testing tools such as Postman, Bruno, or SoapUI* Experience with quality and security scanning tools such as Sonar, Fortify, or Contrast* Working knowledge of messaging systems such as Kafka or similar technologies* Ability to write clean, maintainable, and secure code aligned with industry best practices, which can include debugging and monitoring.**Desired Skills*** Experience developing REST APIs and working with databases (relational, NoSQL, caching)* Hands-on experience with Spring Boot or similar frameworks* Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or other modern cloud environments#LI-NJ1**Skills**Accountability, Accountability, Agile Environments, Agile Methodology, Backlogs, Business, Business Needs, Business Requirements, Collaboration, Communication, Computer Science, Conducting Standups, Continuous Integrations, Continuous Integration Software, Cross-Functional Teamwork, Design, Design Principles, DevOps Tools, Documentations, Extreme Programming (XP), GitHub, Gradle, Information Technology Management, Java (Programming Language), Java Enterprise Edition {+ 14 more}**Compensation**Compensation offered for this role is 90,700.00 - 153,925.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.**Joining our team isn’t just a job — it’s an opportunity.
