Research Associate II Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Research Associate II to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Requires adherence to strict safety protocols and may require the use of personal protective equipment;
- Analyze data using advanced analytical tools;
- Assists the study and Professor with analyzing data and preparing manuscripts, reports, and presentations;
- Assists the Professor and study staff on all ongoing research;
- Assists the Professor with the preparation of grant proposals based on the research conducted;
- Assisting with next generation (NGS) sequencing for the core facility;
- All projects are of a highly specialized nature and require technical proficiency, problem solving skills and good judgment;
- Current platforms include the Illumina NovaSeq, NextSeq, MiSeq, iSeq, PacBio, and additional platforms in the future;
- Keep a detailed laboratory notebook; write protocols and experimental plans, and document results and scientific interpretations;
- Communicate and discuss results with a multidisciplinary team including biologists, bioinformaticians, statisticians, software engineers, and managers;
- Contribute insight toward experimental findings and troubleshoot laboratory processes and protocols;
- Assists with IRB submissions of ongoing research projects;
- Gives oral presentations of the research;
- Plan and execute complex laboratory experiments in collaboration with Development Scientists.
Requirements:
- Hands on experience of cell culture procedures, set up and operation of bioreactors experiments at least at 10L scale;
- Hands on upstream and downstream operation that includes but not limited to recovery, filtration, TFF and chromatography operations;
- Experience optimizing new methodologies and novel nucleic acid techniques and tests;
- Extensive hands-on experience with nucleic acid techniques (DNA manipulation, PCR, qPCR, DNA quantitation and analysis);
- Knowledge of biochemistry, biochemical / bioengineering subjects;
- Experience with Next Generation Sequencing techniques and protocols;
- B. S. or M.S. in molecular biology or related fields.A minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience as a Research Associate.
