Our company is looking for a Resident Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee document control management, as performed by staff;
  • Inspect and assess the quality of materials being used for construction projects;
  • Prepare daily reports and calculations;
  • Prepares/reviews RFI’s, Submittals & Daily Inspection Reports, filing, etc;
  • Oversee field staff and contractors on the site;
  • Perform post construction evaluations (Lessons Learned);
  • Monitors the implementation of the contractor’s safety program;
  • Resolves technical and construction related problems;
  • Prepares memos, emails, meeting minutes, etc;
  • Conducts meetings and makes presentations to staff;
  • Daily communication with developers, contractors, inspectors & client;
  • Plans, develops budgets, and assigns work;
  • Monitor construction work by contractors;
  • Processes progress payments; reviews schedules, weekly statement of working days, costs, and change order work;
  • Approve change orders, invoices, and payment applications.

Requirements:

  • Experienced in SiteManager®, Manual of Uniform Record Keeping (MURK) and Change Order and project closeout procedures;
  • Successful performance on Long Island and/or New York City bridge and highway construction projects for NYSDOT;
  • NJDOT and NJTA experience preferred;
  • Good writing and communication skills required;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Current California PE License highly desired;
  • Illinois P.E. license;
  • Strong computer skills including MS Suite and Project, Adobe, Bluebeam, SharePoint or others;
  • MS Office skills (Word, Excel) required;
  • 6+ years of experience with roadway and/or underground utility construction;
  • Knowledge of Caltrans’ standard plans and specifications, construction manual, and LAPM;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university;
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Class “C” California driver’s license is required;
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
