Our company is looking for a Structural Engineering Intern to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide analysis and design for new and rehabilitation of all types of highway & rail transit bridge structures;
  • Prepare project development reports, type selection studies, construction drawings, project special provisions and other project documents;
  • Support design leads for bridge and structural design assignments;
  • Technical and code review of structural design calculations and construction drawings;
  • Perform analysis and design of highway and transit bridges and other structures using multiple software packages;
  • Seismic analysis experience;
  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives;
  • Perform basic calculations to analyze and design individual building components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software;
  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids;
  • Work closely with CAD drafters to develop knowledge for the production of construction documents;
  • Apply engineering knowledge to routine engineering tasks under close supervision;
  • Plans & Specification reading;
  • Basic structural analysis and design of projects of all material types (steel, concrete, masonry, and wood);
  • Ability to take direction from senior engineers and from drafters;
  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.

Requirements:

  • Experience with Structural analysis or Bridge design software: STAAD, SAP2000, CSIBRIDGE, Leap Software’s;
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately;
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills;

  • Experience with structural design work, or worked on design project;
  • Ability to travel 15%-25%; duration of travel may vary depending on project and client needs, ranging from a few days to a few weeks;
  • Knowledge of general engineering principals, statics, dynamics of structures and general engineering design;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Master’s candidates preferred. Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship;
  • Must be able to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship;
  • Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams;
  • Good writing, presentation, and communication skills;

  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
