Production Operator – 1st Shift Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Production Operator – 1st Shift to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- General housekeeping; cleaning and maintaining work areas and machinery;
- Gathering and stacking bags in proper patterns for shipments; inspecting each bag to meet company’s strict quality standards;
- Scanning bags of ingredients to ensure proper inventory levels;
- Conducting product inspection and quality control; performing quality checks;
- Fill ingredients into proper containers; bags will require feeding through a sewing machine to close; take samples of ingredients and final products;
- Gathering and weighing pre-determined amounts of specific ingredients adhering to strict quality standards;
- Following daily schedules and work orders; setting up mixes;
- Packaging finish products and entering data into internal system (computer, scanner, and bar code software);
- Approve and release finish goods; wrap and move good to designated locations;
- Measuring and feeding batches of ingredients into production machinery. Using lifting equipment and forklift trucks.
Requirements:
- HS diploma required;
- Ability to prioritize work by determining the sequencing and timing of different jobs based on precedence and importance;
- Possesses understanding of and ability to utilize electronic data collection systems and computer software packages;
- Understand, record, and verbalize detailed information accurately; basic math calculation skills;
- Must have good dexterity to handle and maneuver small components and parts;
- Must be able to speak, follow verbal instructions and communicate effectively in English;
- Be observant, accurate, and capable of following directions;
- Ability to take a proactive approach to plant safety and report all unsafe acts or conditions immediately;
- Must have good basic math skills at a 6th grade level;
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Must be able to pass a forklift training test;
- Basic computer skills including use of scanners and bar code software;
- Must be able to read, comprehend and follow English written procedures at a 6th grade level;
- Ability to make critical decisions and judgments with minimal supervision;
- 18+ years of age.
