The State of Connecticut, Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) is currently seeking a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Lead Custodianto join our team within the Building Services Department.
Full -Time, (37.5 hours), 1st Shift, Wednesday - Sunday 7:00am - 3:00pm.

Supervises staff by scheduling, assigning, reviewing work, and providing training and guidance.
Establishes and maintains crew procedures to ensure consistent operations.

Plans crew workflow and determines priorities;
Establishes and maintains crew procedures;
Provides staff training and assistance;
Conducts or assists in conducting performance evaluations;
Acts as liaison with operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures;
Ensures supplies and equipment for crew are adequate by reporting shortages to supervisor;
Performs full range of duties as outlined in Custodian class specification;
May make recommendations on policies or standards;
Knowledge of building custodial and/or housekeeping work and related equipment;
operate, care for and perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment used in daily work;
utilize computer software;

~ Experience supervising housekeeping or custodial staff in a healthcare setting.
Experience training and mentoring custodial staff.
Experience with equipment such as floor buffers, carpet cleaners, and mops.
Experience stripping and waxing floors.
Experience with maintenance protocols in a healthcare environment including oversight of custodial operations, monitoring cleaning quality, and supporting quality assurance inspections.
Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties.
Incumbents in this class may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights and may be exposed to risk of injury from equipment and/or assaultive and/or abusive patients or clients.
