Job Description Summary - Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, as well as mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned. Teaching modalities may be face-to-face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction. Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction. All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.
Required Education
Minimum LVN with at least 5 years work experience in field of study including at least one year working in a skilled nursing facility. Have a minimum of two years of nursing experience. Have completed a course focused on teaching adult students or have experience in teaching adult students or supervising nurse aides. At least one year experience providing long term care services in a nursing facility. All faculty members must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion. These standards include an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application.
LVN or RN with a minimum of one year experience providing long term care services in a nursing facility; have completed a course in teaching adults or have experience in teaching adults or supervising nurse aides. Copies of certificates/license must be submitted with application.
Preferred Education
Bachelor's degree in nursing
Five plus years overall nursing experience; Experience teaching adults or supervising nurse aides
Maintain familiarity with and adhere to college policies and procedures. Flexibility in schedule to teach day/evening/weekend classes. Provide hands-on training in clinical lab skills covering each of the required Prometrics skills. Provide necessary reporting to the college. Carefully monitor and provide immediate feedback to students during clinicals. Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; ability to communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers and public groups; ability to treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice, without discrimination based upon age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation or gender identity; ability to exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources; and, ability to observe the stated policies and procedures of the College.
