College Writing Instructor

Position Summary
We are growing! College of Emergency Services is expanding our instructional team and is seeking qualified candidates for an additional Adjunct Instructor position. The role includes instruction in skill labs, coordination of patient care scenarios, and content delivery for courses such as EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, and standardized courses (e.g., ACLS, PALS, PHTLS).

Essential Functions / Duties

Ensure that practice and theory are current according to national standards and evidence-informed practice.

Serve as an instructor/facilitator in skill labs and patient care scenarios using program-established teaching, evaluation, and testing tools.

Maintain accurate documentation of student performance.

Evaluate students in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains and provide feedback to students as appropriate and agreed upon with the Lead Instructor.

Present content for each course as mutually established with the Program Manager.

Supervise students in clinical areas as scheduled in conjunction with the Clinical Coordinator.

Remain current with state and local EMS requirements, policies, and procedures.

Maintain instructor status for standardized courses as mutually agreed upon.

Establish and maintain positive working relationships within the organization based on experience and feedback.

Utilize tact and appropriate problem‑solving processes when dealing with identified issues.

Relay concerns and initiate problem‑solving in a timely manner.

Interact positively with staff members and students.

Serve as a role model for students.

Use discretion and maintain confidentiality regarding student information.

Execute assignments to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency.

Demonstrate an appreciation of cost factors in routine performance of duties.

Assist staff with the maintenance of program equipment.

Respond and adapt to changing expectations and reprioritize as necessary to expedite program needs.

Assume responsibility for effectively addressing issues and solving problems.

Demonstrate good judgment in handling situations not covered by written or verbal instructions.

Deliver educational presentations applying principles of adult learning.

Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

Work with other employees, supervisors, and external parties.

Maintain confidentiality of privileged information gained as a result of position functions.

Work independently and under pressure.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in a field/clinical setting as a paramedic.

Experience as an adjunct instructor preferred.

Associate degree preferred.

Completion of an approved instructor course preferred, specifics as required by local governing authority.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Instructor of either PALS or PEPP or EPC preferred.

Licensing, Registration, Certification and DOT Physical

NREMT preferred.

AHA BLS Instructor preferred.

AHA ACLS Instructor preferred.

PHTLS or ITLS Instructor preferred.

MO Paramedic license required.
