Temporary Human Resources GeneralistDepartment: Human ResourcesReports To: Director of Human Resources or Designee FLSA Status: Job Summary:The Temporary Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing day-to-day Human Resources support while a member of the HR team is on leave. This position performs a wide variety of generalist functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee records administration, benefits, employee relations, HR compliance, filing, and general departmental support. Serve as a first point of contact for employees regarding routine Human Resources questions, policies, procedures, and other employment-related matters. Coordinate the recruitment process, including posting vacancies, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, participating in interviews as assigned, conducting reference checks, etc. Process employee status changes including new hires, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, leave of absence documentation, and separations. Maintain accurate employee records and ensure timely entry of personnel information into HRIS, payroll, benefits, and related systems. Coordinate pre-employment and ongoing employment requirements, including background checks, drug and alcohol testing, DOT physicals, occupational health appointments, etc..Assist with routine employee relations matters by responding to questions, gathering information, documenting concerns, and referring complex issues to the Director of Human Resources. Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and other workforce data. Participate and assist with planning employee recognition, wellness initiatives, engagement activities, and District-sponsored events. Respond professionally to telephone calls, emails, and walk-in employee inquiries while maintaining strict confidentiality. Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Department, including filing, scanning, scheduling meetings, preparing meeting materials, and maintaining departmental records. Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all organizational levels.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Education and Experience:Bachelor 's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Human Services, or another related field, preferred.An accredited HR certificate is strongly preferred: Working conditions are generally indoors, in a temperature-controlled office environment, working closely with others and alone. Possible exposure to dirt, dust, moderate noise, electrical/chemical/mechanical hazards, communicable diseases, angry/difficult people, and construction sites.kneeling, squatting, bending, twisting, and crouching during assigned activities, pushing and/or pulling, climbing stairs, lifting, and carrying materials.Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities. Travel: Must have a valid driver's license.
