Estimator - Subcontractor - Commercial

Job Description We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our dynamic team at a leading fencing contractor. The Estimator will play a critical role in the success of our projects by accurately forecasting the costs, size, and duration of future projects. This position requires a strong understanding of financials and a keen eye for detail to provide accurate and competitive bids that align with our company’s standards and client expectations.

This position is base wage plus commission. Fencing experience is preferred.

Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracting.

• Liaise with other professionals, including construction managers, contractors, engineers, and architects to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Assess cost-effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
• Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors and in negotiating contracts on behalf of the company.
• Conduct site visits to gather information on materials needed, labor required, and other factors that affect cost.
• Determine necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints.
• Use specialized software to assist with the estimation processes and maintain a database of historical data.
• Supervise and provide tools necessary for Superintendent or Project Manager to perform their duties efficiently. Ensuring that protocols are followed throughout the duration of the project. Report any issues to HR immediately to be resolved.
• -Understanding the end goal is a quality job done by everyone. A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience as an estimator in the construction/fencing industry.
• Strong understanding of construction/fencing materials and project management principles.
• Proficiency with estimating software and spreadsheet design.
